Our School

Raheen National School is a rural two-teacher school situated 12 kilometres from Killarney in the Parish of Glenflesk in the heart of Sliabh Luachra.

Our school is a happy secure place where effective teaching and learning takes place within a Catholic ethos. The school currently has an enrolment of 37 pupils. We have 3 teachers and 2 Special Needs Assistants based in our school. We are clustered with Coolick National School for the provision of 12.2 extra hours Special Education Teaching per week. We have a part time secretary / caretaker.

The school building has 3 Classrooms, a Hall, a Learning Support Room, a Kitchenette, a Secretary’s Office and a Staff Room. The third classroom is occupied by our Community Playgroup. We have a tarmacadam play area, a junior playground and a grass pitch.

As a community we work together to keep our school in good repair. We also have a vibrant, active and supportive Parents’ Association who are actively involved in our school life thus enhancing the learning experience for our pupils.

School starts at 9.00 a.m. and ends at 2.40 p.m.

Lunch breaks are from 11.00 a.m. to 11.10 a.m. and from 1.00 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.
